Working Out

At first glance, when I see someone "fit", I wonder about the work and determination it takes to get into shape. The time commitment, lifestyle choices, "iron" pumped, and all the intention behind the choice to "get healthy" is amazing to me. While living in Southern California, this lifestyle was evident most everywhere.

I realized then, that in many cases, "nothing is impossible......"

I can make this application to my spiritual life as well, as there are many references made in the New Testament of the Bible, that connect us to the importance of being whole. The journey of life we are taking is likened to a "race", and I know I want to be as capable as I can to run it well.  I want to embrace it and make the most of it.

Most times, "equipping" is key to developing the knowledge needed to use what is available to us and furthermore, to build the endurance required to be in this thing called life for the long haul and not give up. As I lift the "weight", push myself to do more, go harder and further, I learn I can build my core. Strength is compiled slowly from the weight I handle.......

I am speaking in spiritual terms now.....

There is always the choice to remain ill-equipped, uninterested, or only tap into that small portion of strength and capability that keep us barely keeping up. But what if you could get ahead? Would you do it? Would you push a little further, go a bit deeper, exercise, and work out your faith to get stronger?

In the book of Philippians 2, verse 12, the Apostle Paul urges us to "work out salvation with fear and trembling." The type of working out the Apostle is speaking of is one that "gets results and renders one fit for something." There is a working out, searching out,  and spiritual exercising we need to do; we will only be as fit as the effort we put out.

I encourage you to make your spiritual fitness a priority as we are approaching this new season where life springs forth!
